Floodlights

Tennis under floodlightsFloodlights are available on the front 3 courts allowing play to continue not only late into the evening when the light fails, but also during evenings throughout the winter. There are are surprising number of winter evenings in Troon when play can be enjoyed!

  • The floodlights are operated by a token operated timers located in the clubhouse. Tokens cost £2 each and will last for 30 minutes.
  • Tokens can be purchased in the clubhouse from any member of the committee or the club coach. We Token operated timer for floodlightsrequest that members buy at least £10 worth of tokens at a time. Please ensure that you have sufficient stock of tokens for your coming needs.
  • Insert one or more tokens into the appropriate timer in the clubhouse. A display on the timer counts down the remaining time available.
  • If the lights have been on and are allowed to go off, they will not re-ignite until the gas inside the lamps has cooled (approximately 5 minutes). Please allow 5 minutes before inserting another token. It is best not to allow them to go off if you are planning to continue to use.
  • The floodlights will automatically go off at 10pm even if there is still time left on the clock. Local planning restrictions do not allow use of the floodlights after 10pm.

Ball Machine

The ball machine is currently unavailable while the new clubhouse is being built.

The committee hopes members make good use of the ball machine and have great fun doing so. That what it has been bought for! Use it for warming up or improving your technique or just hitting balls for the fun of it. Can members adhere to the rules below in order to ensure the use of the machine is maximised, the machine and balls are kept in good condition and the machine is kept on charge after use (essential!!).

Rules for Ball Machine Use

  1. Ball machine to be signed out and in for individual use. If the machine is handed over from one member to another, the handover must be recorded on the sign out sheet.
  2. The charger should never be switched off. When fully charged the machine operates on a trickle charge basis.
  3. Where another member is waiting to use it, a session should be limited to half an hour (or invite them to join you).
  4. The balls must be retrieved after use and not left for the next person to collect.
  5. The machine is on wheels for ease of use, but must be lifted over steps etc to prevent damage to the sole plate.
  6. For individual use, the machine should only be used on the back courts.
  7. Junior use only under adult member or coach supervision.
  8. Use to be stopped during rain showers and the cover put on. If the rain persists, the machine and balls must be returned to the clubhouse.
  9. Wet balls should not be put in the ball hopper as this could reduce the life of the machine.

Pending finding a permanent 'home', the machine will be stored in the kitchen. Members can get a key from either a committee member or a team captain.
