Changes to the Club Constitution:
Following a change at the LTA, we need to make some changes to our rules.
Previously, if a major legal, financial claim were made against the LTA, the associated organisations and members of the LTA would be exposed to unlimited liability. In order to protect the LTA and its members, the LTA changed its status from Unincorporated Association to a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) on 1 October 2011. This change effectively limits each member’s liability to £1.
As part of the incorporation the LTA is introducing a Disciplinary Code, based on the existing code but with improvements. The LTA requires that the Disciplinary Code and post‐incorporation LTA Rules are agreed by all persons participating in tennis in this country.
Therefore, all tennis clubs, including Troon, have to make some small changes to their constitutions to support the introduction of the Disciplinary Code. The changes must be approved at the Club’s AGM.
The LTA have provided clubs with the suitable wording for the new rules to be inserted into our existing constitution and the committee have prepared a draft to be put to the members at the AGM. This new draft and the existing constitution can be viewed on the club website and will also be displayed on the clubhouse noticeboard.
Six new rules have been added, rules 1, 7, 21, 22, 23 & 33 (highlighted in yellow on the draft). As a consequence of inserting these new rules, all existing rules have been re-numbered accordingly. Rule 3 on the new draft (also highlighted) has been re-written.
More information on the incorporation of the LTA and why we need to make changes to our constitution can be found on the LTA website.
